Composer, musicians, looper and guitar teacher John Sherry got in touch with us recently regarding his Rapidweaver site. John had built it himself and while he'd managed to get part of the way there, he didn't feel it did him - or the services he offers - justice. This was a perfect case use for Rapidweaver Help, so we sat down with John over Zoom and got to work, first on what he was hoping to achieve and then on the structure of the site. Here's how it worked.

  • first we had a chat on Zoom where John outlined what he was trying to achieve and talked about some specific problems he was having with the site
  • we went away and came back with a quote for the work and had another Zoom meeting, during which it became clear that the best - and most cost-effective - way forward was to re-build the site from scratch
  • so we put together a simple design that worked well across different device sizes, chose some fonts, created a colour scheme (using the burnt orange of John's lovely Breedlove acoustic guitar as the central colour) and then put some rough pages together
  • a few tweaks later and John approved so we could get on with adding content; we worked hard to use only those plugins he already owned with the exception of a couple of donationware products and a single paid-for plugin to handle the calendar
  • despite the time difference between Monterey and Hove, John was responsive, delivered the content when he said he would and gave honest, speedy feedback; this helped to keep the build on track and on budget
  • the finished website was saved with all its assets and delivered to John in less than a week
  • he then familiarised himself with how things worked and uploaded the site to its proper home on the web
  • going forward, John has complete control of his site and can add, edit and change its content and structure at any time

"I was looking to give my website it a more professional look with better functionality and I came to Rob at Rapidweaver Help with some very specific ideas. He was able to help me realize my vision as well as advise me on the most economic ways to achieve it. He’s a great communicator, very easy to work with, and his skill set is broad and deep." JOHN SHERRY
